polar bears
The polar bear is the largest bear in the world growing to be seven to ten feet and weighing 300 - 750 lbs, native to the arctic circle polar bears are the arctic's top wildlife predator. The polar bears are known as hyper-carnivorous generally eating 20 percent of their body weight. Polar bear are now a threatened because of the lost of their habitat cause by climate change induced by global warming. Polar bears are now classified as a threatened, vulnerable species because rapid pace of environmental destruction. Although a the bear is born on land the polar bear spends lots of it time in the water because of environment and dependence on sea ice polar bears are labeled marine mammals. The danger that these bear’s face is malnutrition or starvation. Usually feeding different types of seals, walrus and a variety of whales. Polar bears hunt seal with assistance from sea ice, the problem they face now is the warmer climate causes the ice to melt with forces bears to stay shore-bound. Some bears swim a farther distance for food but the problem they have is they depletes the majority of their energy which can result in drowning. Polar bears are still hunters which the bear may lay in wait for several hours before actually attacking with incredible speed and power. Polar bears are not territorial by nature and are usually stereotyped as voraciously aggressive animals. However that’s not the case these bears are cautious in confrontations and in most cases will choose to escape rather than fight. Polar bears rarely attack humans unless provoked. these rare cases are usually caused by hungry polar bears which are extremely unpredictable, fearless and are known to kill and sometimes eat humans because of their lack of prior human interaction in some cases the victims are rushed to urgent care. If polar bears were to go extinct, the population of walruses, seals, whales, reindeer, rodents and birds would increase and get out of control and will through the world's food chain out of whack.
Whale Sharks
The Whale Sharks is a beautiful carpet shark that conservation status is threatened. The whale Shark is the largest known fish is the world. Whale Shark are gentle giants growing to be over forty feet long and weighing over forty thousand pounds. Whale Shark are sole member of the genus, Rhincodon. These beautiful whale sharks are only found in the open waters of the tropical oceans it is very rare to find whale sharks outside waters under 70 degrees Fahrenheit. The whale shark is a slow-moving fish with a lifespan of 70 years. Whale Sharks are one of few sharks that are filter feeder, other sharks would be the megamouth and the basking shark. They feed almost exclusively on plankton and small fishes. Despite being sharks whale sharks pose no threat to humans. Research has not found one case of humans being admitted to urgent care. Although whale sharks are open water fish capable of diving to depth over 4,000 feet; however they have been know to swim closer to the shore. The Whale Sharks is a beautiful shark that conservation status is threatened. There is no current estimate of the global whale shark population. The International Union for Conservation of Nature considered the whale shark to be endangered. The impacts of fisheries, bycatch losses, and vessel strikes threaten the whale sharks. There have been significant acts to conserve the lives of whale sharks. The Philippines banned all fishing, selling, importing, and exporting of whale sharks for commercial purposes, as well as India and Taiwan. The whale shark has also added to Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Hundreds of whale sharks are illegally killed every year in China for their fins, skins, and oil. It is important to preserve the whale shark, from vicious poachers and other entities.

They diet is believed to be wild boars, sheep, gazelles and occasionally stray cows it is unknown how they hunted these animals because no one ever documented how Barbary lions hunt. The extinction of the Barbary lion can be of a number of things but our researchers believe it to be because of the Romans. Since Barbary lions were indigenous to Northern Africa we believe Egyptians could have been the first to Barbary lions colonizing small villages and farms near the mountains. The people was no real threat to these king of beast, the weaponry was not as advanced as other empires. Barbary lions often killed people that tried to defend their livestock, the people who wasn't killed would later die of bacteria or the lack of urgent care. Later the roman empire would take over. The name vaquita is Spanish and translates to “little cow” however vaquitas have many names like desert porpoise and Gulf of California porpoise. There are little information on vaquitas since discovery in the late 1950’s. The behavior of vaquitas are different than their distant cousins. We know vaquitas use high-pitched sounds for communication and echolocation for navigation, however vaquita are difficult to track most marine mammals we track because they follow a pattern of some sort rather its feeding or mating. Vaquitas generally feed and swim at a undemanding pace. They tend to avoid boats of any kind and are very evasive. When vaquitas rise to breathe, they barely breaks the water by slow moving and breathing then quickly getting away. Vaquitas are not social pack mammals like other porpoise or marine mammals. Vaquitas have never been hunted directly, but their population is declining because illegal gillnets.
Amur leopard
The Amur leopard are one of the rarest cats in the world. With what’s believed to be less than 100 Amur leopards left in the wild. It is vital that we educate people on the status on these beautiful animals. Amur leopards are leopards like the ones you think of when you think of savannas leopards. However, Amur leopards run at less speeds. They run at a maximum speed of 37 miles per hour. Amur leopard can pounce 20 feet and jump an astonished 10 feet vertically. Amur leopard are found in the southeastern part of Russia and northeastern China. The Amur leopard is a beautiful animal with peculiar behavior. Researchers have found that males will stay with females after mating, even help with rearing the young. Males are known to fight over a females. Amur leopards live an average of 10 - 15 years in the wild and up to 20 years in captivity. For countless years Amur leopard have been poached for their beautiful skin. Amur leopards have beautiful spotted fur. Undercover agents in the field have discovered Amur leopard skin will sell upwards of a thousand USD. Other than poachers a major threat for Amur leopards is the mass destruction of habitat. The expansion of small villages and large cities have caused irreversible damage to the environment. With camera traps researches can help keep accurate numbers on Amur leopard. As well help spread knowledge about the beautiful Amur leopard. We hope you stay informed of the status of these animals.
black rhinoceros
The black rhinoceros is native to south-east Africa. Otherwise known as the hook-lipped rhinoceros is the smallest of the two African rhinoceros. black rhinoceros are called “hook-lipped” rhinoceros because of their pointed lip, white rhinoceros have a more square lip. The black rhinoceros usually weighs from 1,800 to 3,000 lbs. black rhinoceros are known as browsers because of the position of their head. By having a higher head and a hooked-lipped black rhinoceros are able to grasp leaves and twigs when feeding. Opposed to White rhinoceros who mainly feed on grass. black rhinoceros are on the brink of extinction. the International Union for Conservation of Nature has the black rhinoceros critically endangered. With just under 5,400 black rhinoceros in the wild. black rhinoceros have been extremely affected by poaching, habitat changes, and black-market trafficking of rhino horn. Rhinoceros are one of the oldest groups of mammals on the planet their living fossils. Poachers have hunted rhinoceros for years. Rhinoceros hide and meat are worth a pretty penny. Poachers also assist in the illegal hunting and trafficking of rhinoceros horns. The illegal extractions of Rhinoceros horns are worth hundreds of thousands on the black market. Rhinoceros horn are thought to be able to treat cancer in Vietnam. There are no scientific research behind the accusations. Rhinoceros horns are made out of keratin. Many cultures believe that rhino horns have medical benefits. Along with the threats of being over hunted black rhinoceros have almost lost the majority of their habitat. Together we can help protect these beautiful animals the more when can educate you on the status of endangered animals the more you will know.
northern bald ibis
The northern bald ibis is a migrant bird that is normally found in rocky, desert like habitats. The northern bald ibis have a ibis that goes by different names like hermit ibis, and waldrapp. The northern bald ibis can be identified by its unique description. northern bald ibis differs from other ibis the hermit ibis is glossy black and is non wading and has a featherless red face and head with a long red bill. Like few birds the northern bald breeds colonially, Approximately 13 percent of all bird species nest colonially. The northern bald feeds on lizards, insects, and other small animals. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has the northern bald listed as critically endangered. Northern bald ibis fossil record date back at least 1.8 million years. the northern bald ibis was once widespread across the Middle East, northern Africa, and southern Europe. However, the northern bald ibis disappeared from Europe over 300 years ago. The northern bald ibis population continue to decline in Morocco it’s believed to be about 500 wild birds. In 2002 there were some northern bald ibis rediscovered in Syria believed to be 10 or less. There have numerous reintroduction programs internationally. Northern bald ibis critically endangered for a while now, in the late 1980s last colony in Algeria disappeared. While most monitoring have taking place little has changed the fact that there are more northern bald ibis in captivity than in the wild. Bird hunting and lost of habitat have significantly affected these birds. Some Turkish colonies have been discovered died. These death seemed to confirm that the overuse of pesticides is still a cause of death on migration. Pesticide poisoning have been implicated in the rapid loss of colonies in recent decades. According to local legend the northern bald ibis was one of the first birds that Noah released from the Ark as a symbol of fertility. In Ancient Egypt ibis was revered as a holy bird and a symbol of brilliances. It give us chest pains to know that these ibis may go extinct any year.
Orangutans
Orangutans are one of the most smartest primates their is, next to humans of course. Orangutans of one of the many animals native to southeast Asia. Orangutans sometimes pronounce orangutang, many live in forest-land areas and some are found in swampy areas. There are two types of Orangutans, Bornean and Sumatran. The two type of orangutans have a lot a similarities but they acutely differ in appearance and behavior. While both have reddish fur, Sumatran orangutans physically have longer hair in their facial region. Bornean orangutans differ in behavior from their cousins, Bornean orangutans prefer to descend from the trees to move around on the ground. Even though, orangutans are the most arboreal of the great apes, spending nearly all their time in the trees. Bornean orangutans prefer to descend from the trees geological speaking they live no higher than 3300 ft. Sumatran orangutans are found in a much broader range. Orangutans are among the most intelligent primates. Experiments have shown orangutans can figure out complex problems.Orangutans are very adept nest builders, making a new nest can take 5 to 6 minutes while choosing branches which they know can support their body weight. Orangutans the most endangered of all great apes. in 2016 that around 100,000 orangutans survive in the wild with an expectation of the population decreasing to less than 45,000 by 2025. Orangutan habitat has decreased rapidly because of logging and forest fires. A major factor has been the deforestation of vast areas of tropical forest to palm oil plantations in response to international demand. Orangutans are often victims illegal pet trade. Captured orangutans often needs a veterinarian because of the heinous nature in they way their trapped.
south China tiger
The south China tiger is the smallest of all tigers, these beautiful creatures have been on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s red list of threatened species since 1996. South China tigers differs from all of the tigers in the area. South China tiger skulls showed that they differ in shape from tiger skulls of other regions. South China tiger is considered a relict population of the tigers in the area. Studies have shown that these tigers could have linked from tigers of the Pleistocene age. In the 1950s, the South China tiger population was reported to number more than 4,000 in the wild. These beautiful tigers were victims of an anti pest campaigns by the government of at the time. The campaigns were uncontrolled and very detrimental to the population of the tigers. Not only have the anti pest campaigns severely damaged the tigers, gross excessive deforestation in area and large scale relocations have had an effect in the depletion of the population. By 1982, the population had been cut down to at least 200 tigers in the wild. Less than a decade later more than 80 percent of the remaining tigers had been hunted and wiped out. Not only hunting and deforestation is to blame for the declining population, Chinese medical practices believed certain animal parts offered remedies. Many parts of the tiger such as bones, eyes, whiskers and teeth are used to treat ailments and disease ranging from insomnia and malaria, to meningitis and bad skin. There is no hard fact to back these clams.
Arabian oryx
The Arabian oryx, has been extinct from the wild for many years now. It is most notable for being the national animal of the united Arab Emirates, and the mascot for Qatar Airways. The Arabian oryx is a type of antelope about medium sized with distinctive long straight horns, a shoulder bump Arabian oryx can also be identified by its tufted tail. The Arabian oryx was completely extinct in the 1970’s only saved the species has been in captivity. The Arabian oryx was the first animal to revert its vulnerable status. Through reintroduction affect regarding the Arabian oryx has been successful, now with just over one thousand Arabian oryx in the wild and more than three times that in captivity. The Arabian oryx can only be found in the Middle East they prefer to range in gravel desert or hard sand, where their speed and endurance will protect them from most predators, as well as most hunters. Arabian oryx diet mainly consist of grasses and a large variety of vegetation, include buds, herbs, fruit, tubers and roots. Being mainly in desert like conditions the Arabian oryx can go several weeks without water though They are able to detect rainfall from a distance and follow in the direction of fresh plant growth. Arabian oryx Herds establish a straightforward hierarchy that involves all females and males above the age of about seven months. The herds unally stay connected and if separated, males will search areas where the herd last visited, settling into a solitary existence until the herd's return to normal status. Both Males and females use their horns to defend the sparse territorial resources against interlopers. The myth of unicorns may be based on oryxes that have lost one horn, while many may still believe in unicorns some middle easterners smile about this. north america red wolf
The red wolf is one of two wolves that can be found in america. The red wolf is mostly brown however, their ears, necks and legs have a reddish hue to them. Wolves in general are social animals, and it’s no surprise that the red wolves are social animal as well. These wolves usually lives in packs typically four to six but no more then ten wolves. Packs will only have one alpha and three betas, when hunting the full pack will hunt however only the betas will support the alpha. The red wolves will only use pack hunting tactics when hunting larger prey like deer. Red wolves generally avoid humans however activity human usually results in the human injury or needing urgent care. The red wolf is found throughout the southeastern parts of the United States. Rapid lost of population with red wolves were first noticed in the mid 60’s with intensive loss of habitat and predator control programs working against the red wolves. The wolves branched out looking for salvation remnant groups were found further west than ever before. By the early ‘70s the species had been declared an endangered and track and capture programs were in placed breeding program though the United States Fish and Wildlife Service declared red wolves extinct in the wild in 1980. By the end of the decade restoration programs were being tested at Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge's Bulls Island in South Carolina. introgression of coyote genes was recognized as the single greatest threat to wild red wolf recovery, a large number of which were red wolf-coyote hybrids. Now more than 30 facilities participate in the red wolf Species Survival Plan, yet the red wolf population in North Carolina have declined to less than 60 wolves. Together we can help protect these beautiful animals the more we can educate you on the status of endangered animals the more you will know.
Mountain gorillas
Mountain gorillas are one of the world most beautiful yet threaten animals in africa. The mountain gorilla population has come to a rapid decline, only a little more than 1,000 left in the wild. Gorillas are one of the most intelligent animals, these primates have a bad reputation of being aggressive. Mountain Gorillas are very playful animals in fact, a large percentage of there muscle usage goes to playing and climbing trees. The strength of Mountain Gorillas are used to mainly get around, male gorillas can weigh upwards of 500 pounds; those long arms of there are used to get around. The grip of a gorilla can crush a crocodile, they only use their strength against others is only in defence once the gorilla thinks it is endangered. Gorillas usually live as a family unit. Communication in is mainly through vocalization, baby gorillas can only communicate by vocals. Mountain Gorillas will stay with their young for 10 years, the process of raising their young is very nurturing. These powerful gorillas can be frightened easily for reasons unknown gorillas are frightened of some reptiles, and insects, psychologist have also noted that gorillas will try their best avoid rain. Mountain gorillas are still endangered although conservation efforts have been have been moderately successful we still have have a long way to go. Poaching have been one of the leading threats of gorillas, however patrols have been increased to combat poacher for the few gorillas left. Habitat loss has been a big factor also and national parks have been increased to help preserve the population. Together we can help protect these beautiful animals the more we can educate you on the status of endangered animals the more you will know.
African bush elephants
The African Elephant is the largest land creature on the planet. With a weight reaching as much as 7 tons they are best compared to a school bus in mass. Tracking them down and tranquilizing them is an effort that takes a team of people though is necessary to fit them with the monitoring equipment required to provide them with managed support services. A study by the IUCN, an organization that tracks endangered species, conducted in 2016 indicates the population of African Elephants has been reduced by roughly 100,000 elephants in the last ten years. The animals are the target of poachers who hunt them in an effort to harvest their Ivory Tusks. The tracking of these animals, often done through satellite linked GPS collars, allows support services to protect these majestic creatures by identifying ones who have ventured into territory known to be unsafe, animals that have abruptly stopped or stampedes. In the wild the elephants have no real predators, aside from the occasional lion that might pursue a younger smaller elephant. The only real danger to the species is man and the black market that exists for ivory trade. The elephants are also monitored acoustically, allowing support personnel to monitor for gunshots, vocalizations from the elephants themselves often produced in tones so low that earthquake monitoring equipment is utilized for the task, the elephants movements and that of the poachers. Guns being the primary way that poachers kill the elephants having data on where the bullets are being fired from gives a better representation of hunting activity on the ground, and with the limitations of battery constrained collars that can ping only so often, a more immediate way to identify poachers. The identification of known threat metrics in real time allows for superior management of the population thwarting potential poachers and allowing the population to restore itself to healthy numbers. If the animals are found to be in a situation deemed hazardous, support services are dispatched and the elephants receive the assistance needed to return to safety. The efforts have been paying off, from 1989 to 2019 the elephant population has expanded from 16,000 elephants to 34,000 according to the Kenyan Wildlife Service.
